5 Ways to Reinvent Your Image in 2023

Is it time to update your feminine image? No matter how great you look, the same old, same old gets boring.

Whether you live as a woman full time – or crossdress in private – you deserve to feel your best. Changing your look can give you a whole new boost of confidence!

Here are 5 ways to reinvent your image in 2023:

1. Try a Completely Different Fragrance

black bottle of perfume

Scent is strongly linked to emotions, so changing your fragrance can instantly change the way you feel.

Do you normally wear perfumes that are floral and feminine? Instead, try something musky and exotic to unleash your inner femme fatale. And vice versa!

2. Try Magnetic Lashes

Eylure Promagnetic Eyeliner and Lash System

Looking for an easy way to transform your face this year? Try magnetic lashes! They make it so easy to get that lush lash look.

Here’s how magnetic lashes work:

  1. Apply magnetic eyeliner.
  2. Apply magnetic lashes to the eyeliner.

The eyeliner and lashes magnetically attach – no glue messy required!

Here are some magnetic lash brands to get you started:

3. Dress Up (or down!) More Than Usual

pink heels and high cut green sneakers

When you present yourself as a woman, do you normally dress to the nines in heels and skirts? For fun, try wearing something more casual and dressed down. Or if you normally dress down, dress more formally for a change.

Variety is the spice of life, so step out of your comfort zone and try something new!

4. Look for Style Inspiration Online

The best way to get new ideas is to look for style inspiration. Create a Pinterest board with your favorite looks and follow stylish accounts on Instagram. This will spark new ideas you can try for yourself.

Here are my top 10 stylish transgender / crossdresser Instagram accounts to follow:

Are there any others I should add to the list? Let me know in the comments!

5. Try a Different Hairstyle

an assortment of styled wigs

The fastest way to refresh your look is to change your hairstyle. If you wear a wig, this is super easy to do: Try a different color or length to completely transform your appearance.

If you style your own hair, try parting your hair in a different place. It’s amazing what a simple change like this can have on your appearance.

How will YOU reinvent your image in 2023?

I hope these tips inspired you! Are you planning to do anything special to revamp your image in 2023? I’d love to know, so please share below!

What- Do You Wish- People Understood About You ?

2022 has been a big year in the transgender world. There’s been more media coverage and attention than ever before.

But I can’t help but feel that society still has a long way to go in its understanding and acceptance of crossdressers and transgender people.

Do you agree?

If so, let’s shed some light!

What do you wish people understood about you?

Whether it’s the people closest to you or the world at large, what do you want them to know?

The more voices and perspectives out there, the sooner others will (hopefully) begin to understand.

I’d love to hear from you, so please share in the comments below!

Blonde, Brunette, or Redhead MTF Transgender / Crossdressing

 Is your femme self a:

  • Blonde?
  • Brunette?
  • Redhead?

Or maybe she’s a sexy silver fox instead?

I’ve been all of the above (except silver), and I literally felt like a different person with each hair color.

Changing your hair color doesn’t just change your look – it transforms your entire self image!

Your hair color also has a major impact on the way people perceive you.

What does your hair color say about your feminine self? Keep reading to find out!

Blonde

Candis Cayne
Candis Cayne – Transgender actress and performance artist

I’m a blonde, so what can I say? We DO have more fun! 😉

Blonde hair is vibrant and attention-getting, but different tones send different signals:

  • Warm shades (like golden blonde) give the impression of being warm, youthful, and feminine.
  • Cool shades (like platinum blonde) give off more of a refined, classic vibe.

Brunette

Laverne Cox
Laverne Cox – Transgender actress and LGBT activist

Brunettes are perceived as intelligent, sophisticated, and seductive. How light or dark your hair is also makes a difference:

  • Go for a light brown shade if you want to be seen as fun and flirty.
  • Opt for dark brown or black if you want to appear more mysterious.

Redhead

Florencia De La V
Florencia De La V – Argentine transgender actress and TV personality

Only 2% of the world’s population is redhead, so red hair will definitely make you stand out.

Do you see yourself as fiery, passionate, and sexy? If so, you’re probably a redhead at heart!

Silver

silver hair and purple nails

Silver hair tells the world that you are a wise and sophisticated lady.

This can be a gorgeous, feminine hair color, especially when it’s shiny and well taken care of.

Which one are you?

Please take my poll and tell me why you love your hair color in the comments below!

Things You Should Never Wear MTF

Don’t you just love getting dolled up as a woman? There are so many options for expressing your feminine style – whether your look is girly girl, classic, bombshell, or something else entirely.

That said, there are definitely a few items that should be on your DO NOT WEAR list.

Keep reading for 7 things you should never wear when presenting yourself as a woman.

1. A Too-Short Skirt That Rides Up

very short red skirt

Most crossdressers and transgender women have gorgeous legs that look amazing in short skirts and dresses.

But if your skirt is so short that you have to constantly tug to keep it from riding up, it’s a definite NO. There’s nothing more distracting than seeing an otherwise attractive woman pulling at her clothes.

2. A Poor Quality Wig

colored and styled wigs

Your hair is one of the first things people notice about you. Wearing a cheap or worn-out looking wig is a guaranteed way to attract the wrong kind of attention.

If you wear a wig, be sure to invest in a high-quality wig and take good care of it.

3. Ill-Fitting Undies

orange red lingerie

Not only are ill-fitting bras and panties uncomfortable, they create unattractive bulges and wrinkles under your clothes. Who needs that?

Since 80% of girls wear the wrong size bra, be sure to check out this article on How to Find Your Bra Size.

4. Too Much Perfume

violet perfume bottle

The right perfume can make you feel irresistibly feminine, but it should never be so strong that it’s the first thing people notice about you.

A good rule of thumb is to apply 2 spritzes to 1-2 areas of your body (like your wrists and neck) – and never more than 5 spritzes total.

5. Shoes You Can’t Walk In

red high heels

Sexy stilettos are a surefire way to look and feel gorgeous – but only if you can walk in them! If you have trouble walking in heels, try these tips:

  • Stick with heels 3” or lower
  • Wear shoes with thicker heels (skinny heels are much harder to balance in)
  • Avoid thick platforms

6. Too Much Makeup

makeup and tools

When it comes to makeup, less is more. A soft, natural look is always more feminine and flattering than overdoing it.

7. Worn Out Clothes or Accessories

tattered denim jeans

It’s hard to feel like a poised and polished woman in scuffed shoes or a stretched out bra. Take a good look at your clothes, undies, and accessories and either repair, donate, or toss anything past its prime.

In conclusion

While I’m not a big believer in fashion rules, I think we can all agree that these items do nothing to enhance your feminine image.

So what you do you think of my list? Is there anything else you would add?

I’d love to hear from you, so please share in the comments below!

Ways to Avoid Holiday Weight Gain MTF

I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season!

This is the time to eat, drink, and be merry.

But let’s face it – none of us wants the bulge that comes with too much holiday indulgence.

If you’re a crossdresser or transgender woman, you know that the closer you stay to your ideal weight, the easier it is to create a feminine body shape.

So how can you avoid an expanding belly this holiday season?

Here are my top 7 ways to avoid holiday weight gain:

1. Allow Yourself to Indulge… A Little

It’s important not to deprive yourself over the holidays. If you do, it’ll lead to cravings, binging, and an eventual backlash.

Treat yourself – but be choosy about what you eat! Save your calories for the foods you truly love.

2. Never Arrive Hungry

Going to a party that will be loaded with tempting treats? The worst thing you can do is arrive hungry.

Instead, “spoil” your appetite by eating a healthy snack before you leave home. This will help curb the urge to binge when you get to the party.

3. Don’t Drink Too Much

There’s nothing like a toast with friends over the holidays. But there are two problems with alcohol:

  • It adds a lot of empty calories to your diet.
  • It lowers your inhibitions and can lead to eating more than you intended to.

If you’re going to drink, pace yourself – and be sure to drink plenty of water. A good rule is to drink one glass of water for each alcoholic drink.

4. Limit “Tastes” While Cooking

Be careful in the kitchen when you’re cooking and baking. Tasting food while you cook is an easy way to sneak in loads of extra calories.

My favorite trick is to SIT DOWN anytime you eat – even if it’s just a bite. This forces you to be conscious about how much you are consuming.

And remember – a taste isn’t meant to be a meal! Sample the tiniest bit and save your appetite for the main course.

5. Keep Up Your Exercise Routine

It’s easy to let your exercise routine slide during the busy holiday season. Don’t let this happen to you!

Exercise helps burn calories and boosts your metabolism. But even more importantly, it keeps your healthy habits on track. If you stop exercising, it’s all too easy to throw in the towel and let your healthy eating habits go out the window, too.

6. Eat Protein First

It’s not just about what you eat but WHEN you consume it.

Eating protein prior to eating carbs or drinking alcohol helps stabilize your blood sugar. This can help curb cravings, making you less likely to eat the “sinful foods” that pack on pounds.

7. Use Smaller Plates

Studies show that plate size affects appetite, so an easy trick to avoid overeating is to use a small plate. A small plate creates the illusion of more food and makes it easier to control your portions.

Now, let’s celebrate!

What are your plans for this holiday season? Are there any fabulous femme outings on your agenda? I’d love to hear about them, so please share below.

Happy holidays!

Love,

Jessica

Etiquette Tips for MTF

When presenting yourself as a woman, every detail matters. The way you act is just as important as the way you look. This includes etiquette!

Does etiquette sound like an old-fashioned concept from the 1950s? It’s not.

Knowing the proper etiquette makes you look classy and goes a long way towards a positive first impression. (Besides, you never know when you might be invited to dinner at the White House or Buckingham Palace!)

Etiquette is a huge topic, so in this post, I focus on the most common social situations. Read on for 6 etiquette tips you should know before your next en femme outing.

1. Girly Greetings

blowing a kiss

Greetings can be a landmine of potential awkwardness. Should you hug, kiss, or shake hands?

The rules are straightforward when meeting somebody for the first time:

  • Shake the hand of the person you are being introduced to.
  • If you are sitting down, stand up to shake their hand.
  • Look them in the eyes and smile.
  • Bonus points if you say the other person’s name you meet them.

Kissing, air kissing, and hugs depend on cultural norms and how well you know somebody. When in doubt, let the other person lead.

Of course, if it’s a good friend, feel free to hug or kiss away!

2. The Proper Place for Your Purse

matching black handbag and shoes

Where you put your purse say a lot about your manners. Did you know that putting your purse on the table is considered rude? That’s because it’s unhygienic.

Here’s what you should do instead:

Handbag etiquette:

  • In casual settings, you can hang your bag on the back of your chair. In formal settings, this is considered poor etiquette since it can trip up the wait staff.
  • The other option is to place it on your lap or at your feet.
  • You can also use a purse hook. This is a small hook you carry with you to hang your bag on the table. (Queen Elizabeth II is said to have used one!)

Clutch bag etiquette:

  • Place the clutch on your lap (with your napkin on top) or behind you on your chair.

3. Napkin Etiquette

styled napkin in napkin ring

Napkin etiquette is simple: As soon as you are seated, put the napkin on your lap. You should never begin eating or drinking without your napkin on your lap.

If you get up to use the restroom, fold the napkin and place it on the left side of your plate.

4. How to Hold Your Wine Glass

cartoon champagne glass

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably been holding your wine glass wrong.

The mistake most people make is to hold the glass by the “bowl.” This is a faux pas since it warms the drink inside and leaves smudge marks on the glass.

Instead, hold the glass at the stem by grasping it between your thumb and index finger. (Who votes for a “practice” session tonight?!)

5. Use the Right Utensils

tableware

Ah, the classic etiquette question: Which fork do I use? The answer is to start with the outermost utensil and work your way in with each course.

6. A Grand Finale

smooth legs and nude high heels

Now that you’ve made it through the occasion with perfect, ladylike manners, how do you make a grand finale?

  • When you are done eating, rest your utensils diagonally (in parallel) across your plate.
  • Your napkin should remain on your lap until you’re ready to leave the table.
  • Never leave a party or event without saying your goodbyes. “Ghosting” is just plain rude.

Etiquette matters

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Etiquette might not be the “sexiest” topic, but these details make a difference.

Did any of these etiquette rules surprise you? Do you have any others to add to this list? Please share in the comments below!

Permanent Hair Removal MTF

Nothing will make you feel more feminine than smooth, hair-free skin. There are lots of options for hair removal, including shaving, waxing, plucking, depilatories, etc.

But the holy grail is permanent hair removal. This is especially true if you’re planning a full transition.

So what’s best? Electrolysis? Laser hair removal? DIY devices? Creams?

In this post, I share what actually works for permanent hair removal – and the pros and cons of each method.

Electrolysis

electrolysis treatment for facial hair

First and foremost, electrolysis is considered the only TRULY permanent method of hair removal. During electrolysis, a small probe is inserted into hair follicles to damage the follicle with electricity.

Because each hair must be treated individually, electrolysis is very time consuming. It also takes more than one treatment per follicle, so you could be looking at years of weekly or bi-weekly appointments.

PROS:

  • It’s the only method approved by the FDA for permanent hair removal.
  • It’s effective for all skin and hair colors.

CONS:

  • It takes many sessions. For example, transgender facial electrolysis averages 70-90 hours all the way up to 300 hours.
  • It can be quite painful, especially in areas like the upper lip.
  • There’s a risk of skin discoloration or scarring if not performed properly.

COST:

Licensed electrologists charge from $75-$100+ per hour, so the full treatment can add up to thousands of dollars. However, once the hair is gone, it’s gone.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is the most popular “permanent” hair removal method, but it’s important to know that it’s only approved for permanent hair REDUCTION. It uses lasers to damage hair follicles, reducing growth. It can thin the beard by 70%-85%.

Laser hair removal can inhibit hair growth for several years, but some or all of the hair can grow back – especially in people with fair hair. That means that you may need to have repeat maintenance sessions every 6-12 month.

PROS:

  • It can treat large areas at once.
  • It’s much faster than electrolysis.
  • Most people see a significant reduction in hair growth after 3-8 sessions.
  • The hair grows back lighter and finer.
  • It’s less painful than electrolysis (though not totally pain-free).

CONS:

  • It’s only effective for hair reduction, not 100% hair removal.
  • It’s most effective on people with light skin and dark hair. If you have darker skin or fair hair, it will not be as effective.
  • There’s a risk of skin discoloration or scarring if not performed properly.

COST:

Laser hair removal costs $50-$400 per area per appointment depending on size. That means it can also add up to thousands of dollars over the course of the treatment.

You can also check Groupon for deals, but be sure to research the facility carefully. Bargains aren’t always the best idea when it comes to your face and body.

At-Home Laser Hair Removal

Remington's hair removal device

With the high cost of laser hair removal, there are now some decent options for doing it yourself. DIY devices can indeed work, but they aren’t without drawbacks. Here are the pros and cons of at-home laser hair removal:

PROS:

  • It offers considerable cost savings over professional treatments.
  • It’s more convenient since you don’t have to schedule appointments.

CONS:

  • It’s time consuming since at-home devices are smaller than pro devices.
  • It’s less effective since at-home devices aren’t as strong.
  • It’s hard to treat certain areas (like the back) when you’re treating yourself.
  • There’s more risk of side effects since you aren’t a trained pro.
  • The devices can be painful to use.

Here are the most popular at-home laser hair removal systems:

Creams and Natural Remedies

Completely Bare Body Moisturizer and Hair Inhibitor

Finally, you might be wondering if there are any “natural” ways to remove hair permanently. If you search the internet, you’ll find all kinds of so-called permanent hair removal creams and home remedies involving turmeric, honey, onions, etc.

Unfortunately, these simply do not work. The only way to permanently stop hair regrowth is to destroy the hair follicles, which creams and natural remedies can’t do.

That said, there are some hair inhibitor creams that can be effective. These temporarily slow hair regrowth by blocking hair follicles with enzymes. But keep in mind that they only work for as long as you use them.

Here are a couple options for hair inhibitor creams:

Let’s talk hair removal

Now that I’ve covered the options for permanent hair removal and reduction, I’d love to hear what YOU think.

Have you tried any of the procedures or products above? What were your results?

Please take my poll and share in the comments below!

Love,

Jessica
