Ways to Look Thinner Instantly MTF

Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

But if you wouldn’t mind looking a few pounds thinner, I have some good news…

With a few easy style tricks, you can take 5-10 pounds off your appearance – instantly! (No diets or grueling workouts required!)

Read on for 5 ways to instantly appear thinner, sleeker, and more feminine.

1. Wear Clothes That Fit Right

too tight yellow dress
blue and white loose clothes

The way your clothes fit has a huge impact on your appearance. This is especially true for crossdressers and transgender women. To look your best, avoid:

  • Clothes that are too tight – These highlight trouble spots and emphasize fat rolls.
  • Clothes that are too big – These add bulk and give your body a formless shape.

Instead, choose garments that skim along your body for the most flattering effect.

2. Go For V Necks And Open Collars

lace black dress

V neck tops and open collars create flattering vertical lines down your torso, where most crossdressers and transgender women carry their weight. They also help draw attention to your face.

If you have large breasts (or wear large breast forms), you’ll want to stay away from high neck tops since these can create a matronly look.

3. Choose Flattering Accessories

blue dangling earring
long chain pendant
hand accessories

Accessories are a great way to direct people’s eyes towards your best features… and away from a beer belly or bulges.

Here are 3 suggestions:

  • Wear beautiful earrings to draw the focus away from your body and towards your face.
  • Wear long necklaces to create the illusion of a slimmer torso. (Remember, it’s all about those slimming vertical lines.)
  • If you have nice hands, wear bracelets and rings to bring attention to your wrists. This helps distract from big arms and/or broad shoulders.

4. Keep Your Chin Up

chin up and red lips

A double chin can make even the thinnest girl look overweight. Keep your chin lifted to give your neck a more defined look. This is especially important in photos.

While you’re at it, check your posture! Good posture can instantly take 5 pounds off of your figure.

5. Try Monochromatic Colors

earth toned clothes and accessories
all red ensemble and bag
black dress pantyhose and shoes

I’m sure you’ve heard that dark colors are slimming. While this is true, it can also look a bit drab.

Instead of limiting yourself to dark colors, try monochromatic tones instead. Wearing similar colors from head to toe creates an uninterrupted vertical line. This is more slimming than wearing contrasting colors. For example:

  • Pair a light cardigan with white pants.
  • Wear a matching top and skirt.
  • Add black pantyhose under a black dress.

Look your best – even with a few pounds to spare…

While there’s no substitute for a healthy diet and exercise, these tips can make a big difference in your appearance! Who doesn’t love a little instant gratification?

Do you have any outfits that incorporate these tips? If so, I’d love to see them. Please share in the comments below!

Love,

Jessica

How to Walk in Heels MTF

A gorgeous pair of heels instantly makes you feel slimmer, sexier, and more feminine.

The trick, of course, is walking in them!

Walking in heels is definitely a skill – and it’s something a lot of girls struggle with.

Ready to perfect your sexy strut?

The first step is to learn these 7 dos and don’ts for crossdressers and transgender women:

1. DO Walk Heel-To-Toe

walking in red orange heels

One of the biggest mistakes you can make when walking in heels is placing your entire foot down at once. This makes it look like you are “clomping” rather than walking.

Another common mistake is walking in a toe-to-heel pattern. This looks silly and unnatural.

The proper technique is to walk heel-to-toe. Place your heel down first, followed by your toe. This will make your walk look as smooth and natural as possible.

2. DO Take Smaller Steps

walking in black heels

Wearing heels naturally shortens your stride. The higher the heel, the shorter your steps will be.

Don’t try to fight this! Instead, take shorter, more frequent steps as you walk.

3. DON’T Lean Forward Or Back

Heels change your balance, so you need to be careful not to lean forward or back when you walk. Your weight should stay centered and lifted.

Imagine you are a puppet with a string attached to the top of your head. Picture the string pulling you up as you walk, giving you a regal and ladylike air.

4. DO Place One Foot In Front Of The Other

walking in red high heels

Have you ever noticed that runway models look like they are walking on an invisible tightrope?

Placing one foot in front of the other as you walk makes your steps more feminine. It also gives your hips a sexy sway!

The trick is not to overdo it. You should also avoid the temptation to look down at your feet to be sure they are lining up.

Instead, focus on keep your legs together. If you feel your thighs brushing together, your feet will naturally cross over just a little bit.

5. DON’T Go Too High

summer floral high heels

Not surprisingly, 5” stilettos are a lot harder to walk in than 3” pumps.

Start low and work your way up. A good place to begin is with a heel that is 2-3” tall. This will allow your ankles to develop the strength needed to support you.

Once you’ve mastered that, you can move onto the skyscraper stilettos you’ve been coveting.

6. DO Relax Your Legs

Another common mistake is to tense your legs and lock your knees when you walk in heels. This gives you a stiff, robotic look that is very unsexy.

Instead, keep the legs and hips relaxed. The knees should have a slight bend, which will help the hips sway.

7. DON’T Forget To Practice

black shoes with ankle ribbon straps

The time to test your heel walking skills isn’t when you’re out and about. Be sure to spend a lot of time wearing them around the house before you make your big debut.

As you practice, cover all of the real-world skills you’ll need to master, including:

  • Walking
  • Turning around
  • Standing
  • Sitting down
  • Getting into and out of a car
  • Walking up and down stairs

Taking the next step

Finally, since walking in heels is one of those things you need to see to understand, here’s a great video tutorial that demonstrates the points above:

Do you love wearing heels? If so, I’d love to see you in action! Please upload a photo of you wearing your favorite high heels below!

Tips for Fuller, More Feminine Lips MTF

Full lips are a symbol of youth and beauty. Women naturally tend to have fuller lips than men, so lush lips can give you a more feminine appearance.

For crossdressers and transgender women, this detail can have a big impact on your overall look!

But who wants to risk trout pout with painful, expensive injections?

The good news is that there are some simple, non-invasive ways to plump your pout. Here are 5 ways to get fuller, more feminine lips:

1. Exfoliate Your Lips

Dead skin cells on the lips can give you a dry and chapped look. Exfoliation removes the dead cells so your lips can hold onto more moisture, giving the lips a more luscious look.

Exfoliation also increases circulation to the lips, making them look fuller.

You can exfoliate with a washcloth or soft toothbrush. There are also a variety of lip scrubs out there. Lush makes some great ones in a variety of flavors.

2. Try A Lip Pump

lip cream and plumper

There are a number of devices out there that can temporary plump the lips using suction to draw fluid to the area. This creates a plumping effect that can last for several hours. Some examples:

The drawback to these devices is that they can cause bruising or even serious injury if they aren’t used correctly. They can also leave unattractive red marks on the face.

If you decide to try a lip pump, be sure to follow the instructions carefully.

3. Boost Collagen

bottle of advanced collagen tablets

Collagen is a protein in your body that helps keep the skin and lips plump and smooth. As you age, your body produces less collagen, which can lead to thinner lips and more wrinkles.

Luckily, there are ways to increase collagen naturally:

  • Take a collagen supplement. These are inexpensive and easy to find in any health food store.
  • If you’re not a fan of pills, try eating bone broth soups or fruits and vegetables with vitamin C. These foods support natural collagen production.

4. Enhance Your Lips With Makeup

The right makeup techniques can work wonders on your lips. Remember, there’s an art to applying makeup! It’s all too easy to cross the line into artificial looking clown lips.

For full, feminine lips, try this lip makeup tutorial from Makeup Magic: The Ultimate Male to Female Makeup Program. (You can access the complete program here.)

5. Use A Lip Plumping Gloss

lipgloss

There are loads of cosmetic lip plumpers on the market — and some of them actually work!

The best lip plumpers contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid to draw moisture to the lips or peptides that increase collagen. These plumpers create lasting results without causing long term damage.

Some lip plumpers contain irritating ingredients like cinnamon or cayenne. This creates swelling, which make the lips look fuller. However, they can dry out the skin in the long run. I recommend limiting your use of these.

Here are a few of my favorite lip plumping glosses:

Let’s talk lips…

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Have you ever tried plumping your lips? What worked and what didn’t?

And for fun, be sure to upload your luscious lip pics in the comments below!

How to Feminize Your Hands MTF

Sometimes it’s the little details that make the biggest difference.

Take hands, for example…

You may have a feminine face, a melodic voice, and a body like Beyoncé – but if your hands send the wrong gender signal, you might be not making the impression you hoped for.

You can’t change the structure of your hands, of course. But the good news is that there are simple ways to downplay their size and make them look more feminine.

Read on for 4 dos and don’ts for feminizing your hands.

DO Invest In The Right Grooming Tools

manicure tools

Since we’re constantly using our hands, they’re a natural magnet for attention. That means that neatly groomed hands and nails are a must.

Good grooming doesn’t have to take much time – especially when you use the right tools. Here are a few items you should have in your arsenal:

  • Nail brush – This is an essential tool for cleaning under the fingernails.
  • Glass nail file – A glass nail file is gentler on the nails, so it’s a better option than an emery board or metal nail file.
  • Nail buffer – Use a nail buffer to give your nails a natural shine without having to use polish.
  • Hand cream – Hand creams are thicker than body lotions, so they offer extra hydration for hands and nails.

DON’T Make These Manicure Mistakes

Whether you go to a salon or do it yourself, getting a manicure is a great way to polish your feminine look.

That said, there are couple mistakes you’ll want to avoid:

  • Avoid nails that are too long or too short. Both of these extremes tend to make the fingers look more stubby. The most flattering nail length is about 1/8″-1/4″ past your fingertips.
  • Avoid bright nail polish colors. If your hands aren’t your strong point, avoid bold colors and stick with neutral tones that blend into your hands. (Good options are soft pink, nude, or ivory.) Save the fun colors for your toes.

DON’T Forget Hairy Knuckles

Schick razor

This seems obvious, but it still needs to be stated: If you have hairy knuckles, don’t forget to shave them when presenting yourself as a woman. No need for such a simple detail to run an otherwise impeccable feminine image!

DO Use Jewelry To Your Advantage

rings and bracelets on hands

Rings and bracelets can definitely make your hands look prettier, but there are a couple important rules to follow:

  • Avoid delicate jewelry. Dainty rings and bracelets are feminine, but they’re usual a “don’t” for crossdressers and transgender women. Delicate jewelry only makes your hands look bigger in comparison. Instead, look for chunkier jewelry styles that suit the proportions of your hands.
  • Keep it low key. Flashy rings and bracelets call attention to an area you probably want to downplay. That means one or two simple pieces is all you need. Instead, keep the focus on your face with a statement necklace or beautiful earrings.

In conclusion

While your hands might not be your favorite feature, they don’t have to distract from a feminine look. Apply these tips and your hands will blend in beautifully.

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts. How do you feel about your hands? Do you have any additional suggestions to add to this list?

Love,

jessica

Male to Female Hair Removal Mistakes

There’s nothing like silky smooth skin to make a girl feel extra feminine!

Hair removal is an essential part of your feminine image. But let’s face it – when you’re dealing with lots of facial and/or body hair, it’s easy to go wrong.

The secret to a smooth, hair-free chest, soft feminine face, and silky smooth legs lies in avoiding some common mistakes.

Here are 5 male to female hair removal mistakes to avoid – and what to do instead!

Mistake #1: You Didn’t Exfoliate

loofah

All methods of hair removal can cause ingrown hairs, particularly in the beard, chest, and pubic area. You can reduce ingrown hairs by exfoliating your skin 2-3 times per week. Exfoliation helps get rid of dead skin cells that trap the hair.

To exfoliate, gently massage your skin with a washcloth, loofah, or exfoliating scrub. My favorite exfoliation tool is The Body Shop’s exfoliating Body Polisher washcloth. You can find similar exfoliating clothes / towels on Amazon.

It’s best to exfoliate before you remove hair instead of after you do it. Exfoliating too soon after hair removal can irritate your skin.

Mistake #2: You Forgot To Moisturize

aloe vera gel

Dry skin is another cause of ingrown hairs, so it’s important to keep your skin hydrated. (Besides, you want the added benefit of soft, glowing skin, right?)

A great moisturizer to use immediately after hair removal is pure aloe vera gel. Aloe vera is a natural moisturizer and skin soother. Perfumed lotions can irritate freshly shaved, waxed, or lasered skin, so avoid them for the first 24 hours after hair removal.

Mistake #3: You Didn’t Treat Ingrown Hairs

skin care solution for razor burns and ingrown hair

Exfoliating and moisturizing help prevent future ingrown hairs – but what should you do about existing bumps?

Avoid the temptation to shave over ingrown hairs or dig for them with a needle. These tactics can lead to infections and scarring. Instead, try an ingrown hair treatment such as Tend Skin or PFB Vanish.

Mistake #4: Your DIY Was a DON’T

Brazilian waxing kit

Professional waxing, electrolysis, and laser hair removal treatments are expensive, so it’s tempting to try them on your own. But be careful…

Newbie waxing mistakes – like waxing over the same area twice, pulling the hairs in different directions, or pulling too hard – can lead to rashes, bruises, and torn skin. Not a sexy look!

If you insist on doing it yourself, pay for some professional waxing treatments first so you can observe the proper techniques.

Home laser hair removal devices aren’t as effective as professional systems, but they’ve definitely improved in recent years. Be sure to read reviews and do your research. I go into more detail on this topic in Permanent Hair Removal: What Really Works?

Mistake #5: You Got What You Paid For

neon waxing lights

I’m all for beauty bargains, but don’t let price be your sole criteria when choosing a place for hair removal treatments.

A cheap price tag often means a wax job with a bunch of stray hairs left behind or a patchy laser treatment. At worst, you could end up with burns or scars.

Check the qualifications of the person treating you and read the reviews on any place you are considering. Yelp is your friend!

Also, keep in mind that upscale places tend to put more emphasis on comfortable treatments. If you’re a waxing or laser wimp like me, it’s worth spending a bit more for a less painful experience.

What’s YOUR favorite hair removal method?

This is a hot topic, so I’d love to hear your thoughts! What’s your hair removal method of choice? Are you a diehard do-it-yourselfer or a pampered princess who loves her spa treatments?

Take my hair removal poll below and leave me your comments!

jessica
