Femininity Tip for Crossdressers / Transgender Women MTF

My #1 femininity tip for crossdressers and MTF transgender women is to STUDY OTHER WOMEN.

Your best femininity teachers are the women around you. You should constantly observe women when you are out in public – as well as when you watch TV or movies.

The more you study women, the more you’ll pick up on the subtle things that make somebody feminine and attractive.

Pay extra close attention when a woman catches your eye in a positive way. (Without creeping her out, of course!) Try to pinpoint what it is that makes her so appealing.

Specifically notice:

  • What she’s wearing. (A dress, pants, flats, heels, etc.)
  • What her style is. (Classic, trendy, girly, etc.)
  • How much makeup she’s wearing. (Is she wearing lipstick? How heavy is her eye makeup?)
  • Her body language. (Does she cross her legs or place her hands on her hips? How’s her posture?)
  • How she moves her body. (Are her movements soft and subtle or big and bold?)
  • How she interacts with others. (Is she bubbly and outgoing or quiet and mysterious?)

Aside from picking up femininity cues that you can incorporate into your own behavior, use this as a guideline for how women in your area present themselves.

Remember, if you want to “blend in” with the women around you, your clothes, hair, and makeup should be a similar style.

I also suggest paying attention to women who attract your attention in a BAD way. Notice what turns you off so you can avoid this in your own behavior and appearance.

(Who knows? Maybe some of these women will later look to you as an example of ladylike beauty!)

Now I’d love to hear YOUR thoughts on this topic. What have you learned from observing other women?

Please share with me in the comments below!

Love,

Jessica

Avoid Mistakes Femme Photo Posing MTF

Photos are a great way to express your femme self. Whether you take selfies or go to a studio, beautiful images can be a real confidence booster.

Fortunately, you don’t need supermodel genes to look great in photos. It’s all about skill – and avoiding some common mistakes.

Read on to learn about 5 common photo posing mistakes… and how to fix them!

1. Shooting Shoulders Straight On

MJ Rodriguez

If you have broad shoulders (like most crossdressers and transgender women), you should angle your shoulders away from the camera to create a slimmer look. This downplays their width, creating more feminine-looking body proportions.

2. Holding Your Body Too Straight

silhouettes of women in bikinis

There’s nothing worse than looking stiff and awkward in your photos. The secret to flattering, feminine photos is to create softness and curves with your body. Experiment with bending your arms and legs slightly, tilting your head, pushing a hip out, and relaxing your fingers.

3. Shooting in Unflattering Light

studio lighting white backdrop

Lighting makes all the difference in the world in photos. The #1 rule is to avoid strong overhead or side lighting since this creates ugly shadows on the face. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  • If you’re indoors, move away from overhead lights and try placing a couple lamps with soft lighting around you.
  • If you’re outdoors, avoid shooting in strong midday sunlight. The best time of day is to shoot at dusk or dawn when the sun has a soft, diffused glow.
  • If you take selfies, try a selfie light ring that attaches to your phone. This allows you to take flattering photos in low light settings.

4. Placing the Camera Below Eye Level

Nobody wants to rock a double chin in their photos, so never pose with the camera below eye level. The lens should be at or above eye level to diminish a double chin and downplay a large jawline. As an extra bonus, this angle also makes your eyes look bigger.

5. Not Engaging Your Mind

woman wearing black hat posing

I love watching America’s Next Top Model because it shows that modeling is as much about mindset as it is about natural-born beauty. If you’re not feeling fabulous, it WILL show up in your photos.

So how can you increase your confidence when taking photos? An easy trick is to imagine that you’re portraying a character (either real or imagined). For example: Gisele Bundchen, Cleopatra, or Sophia Loren. “Modeling” somebody else is a great way to channel their energy in photos.

Let’s see your best shot!

Taking great photos is only the first step. Sharing them with the world is where the real magic happens!

On that note, I’d love to see the photos you’re most proud of. Please share your femme photos in the comments below!

Jessica

How do YOU deal with envy and comparison MTF ?

Do you ever compare yourself to cisgender women? Or girls who are further along on their feminine journeys?

Have you ever looked at somebody else’s life or looks and thought… why can’t I have that?

If so, you’re not alone.

It’s only human to feel jealous or envious from time to time.

But it sure doesn’t feel good! And it can keep you from reaching your own goals.

So how can you deal with these feelings?

Read on to discover 5 ways to overcome envy and comparison.

1. Realize that You Don’t See the Full Picture

It’s easy to feel inadequate when looking at somebody’s flawless photos on Facebook. The Internet is the ultimate “envy amplifier,” but there are a couple things you should keep in mind:

  • Most people show an idealized version of themselves online. The photos you’re looking at might be Photoshopped or use flattering filters. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, just know they’re not a reflection of somebody’s 24/7 reality.
  • You have no idea what’s happening behind the scenes. Everybody has problems and struggles, and for all you know, they might be dealing with their own feelings of insecurity.

Remember that the next time you scroll through social media!

2. Be Inspired

When we envy somebody, it’s a sign that they have something we want for ourselves. That in itself isn’t a bad thing.

Instead of letting somebody else’s good looks or success make you feel bad, let it inspire you to reach for the same.

Set a realistic goal and channel your energy towards achieving it. Taking positive action feels amazing, so this can be a great way to turn things around.

3. Get a Life

This might sound harsh, but I say it with love.

If you find yourself spending a lot of time sitting around and comparing yourself to others, it’s easy to get caught in negative thought loops.

Quite simply, you need to spend less time in your head and more time out living your fabulous life!

If you’re busy having fun, making friends, and exploring new activities, there’s no time to obsess about others. Problem solved!

4. Surround Yourself With Positive People

Are you surrounded by people who constantly complain about how unfair life is? Or who are always trying to outdo each other like a bunch of teenage girls?

Those thought patterns are contagious, so the best thing you can do is find better people to be around: People who are happy, positive, and grateful.

I realize there are people you can’t cut out completely (like family), but look for positive outlets. Explore Meetup groups, support groups, or positive forums or Facebook groups.

5. Appreciate Yourself

One of my favorite sayings goes:

Another woman’s beauty is not the absence of your own.

The best way to overcome envy is to shift the focus back to yourself and everything that makes YOU special, unique, and beautiful.

It’s not like there’s a limited supply of beauty or success out there, so keep reminding yourself of your own strengths and attributes.

Is this trite advice? Maybe. Does it work? ABSOLUTELY.

How do YOU deal with envy and comparison?

It’s normal to feel jealous or envious from time to time. But the sooner you get over it and put the focus back on your own life and goals, the better!

Because the truth is, girlfriend, YOU are amazing!

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Have you ever struggled with comparison or envy? If so, how did you deal with it?

2. Press On Nails

Kiss French Tip Nail Extensions

Lush, full lips are a must for every crossdresser and transgender woman. One of the quickest and easiest ways to plump your pout is to use a lip plumping tool like Candylipz. Candylipz uses suction to temporarily plump the lips, with results lasting for several hours.

4. Fiber Mascara

Cover Girl Mascara

Don’t have the skill or patience to apply false eyelashes? A great alternative is fiber mascara. Fiber mascaras contains tiny fibers that apply to the lashes and act like extensions. The result is dramatically longer, fuller lashes without the fuss. A couple good budget options include Covergirl The Super Sizer Fibers Mascara and Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Mascara.

5. Charcoal Teeth Whitener

Whitening your teeth can transform your entire appearance. The good news is that you don’t need expensive dental treatments or harsh bleach to attain a Hollywood smile. Instead, try a natural charcoal tooth whitener like Active Wow Teeth Whitening Charcoal Powder, which has over 14,000 reviews on Amazon.

6. Dry Shampoo

varieties of Batiste Dry Shampoo

One beauty product I can’t live without is dry shampoo. Not only is it great for keeping hair fresh and clean between washings, it also adds volume, making hair look thicker and more voluminous. Batiste is my favorite dry shampoo, available at all drugstores.

7. Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay

Aztec Indian Healing Bentonite Clay

Soft, supple skin helps your makeup go on smoother and makes you look younger, prettier, and more feminine. One of the best ways to care for your skin is to use a weekly face mask. My favorite mask is the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mask, which is fantastic for deep cleaning and softening the skin.

8. Electronic Foot File

Pedi Perfect Amope

Every detail counts when it comes to your image – so don’t forget your feet! The easiest way to get soft, feminine feet is to use the Amope Pedi Perfect Electronic Foot File. The tool gently buffs away rough skin and calluses, leaving you with those perfect princess feet.

9. Salux Nylon Washcloth

Salux Beauty Skin Cloth

If you shave your legs or body, then you know how annoying and unattractive ingrown hairs are. Exfoliating with the Salux nylon washcloth from Japan can work wonders. Not only does it help prevent ingrown hairs, it also leaves skin incredibly soft and smooth.

10. Satin Pillowcase

Morning Glamour Pillow Case

Did you know that sleeping on a normal pillowcase can cause lines, creases and wrinkles on your face – as well as hair tangles and frizziness? You can solve all of that by using a satin pillowcase to protect your skin and hair. As an added bonus, you’ll feel like a real life Sleeping Beauty every time you turn in for bed.

Power of Perfume - MTF

Your feminine image is about more than just the way you look. It’s also about the way you speak, move, think, act, and smell. Yes, SMELL!

Scent is strongly linked to emotions – and the right perfume can make you feel irresistibly feminine.

How do you choose the perfect feminizing perfume? Here are the different types of perfume scents and the impressions they create:

Floral Perfumes

Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume

Floral perfumes are based on the scent of one flower (like lavender, rose, gardenia, or geranium) or a combination of several flowers.

Floral perfumes are great for crossdressers and transgender women since they are the most feminine of fragrances. Wear a floral perfume when you want to express your soft, romantic side.

Examples of floral perfumes include: Daisy by Marc Jacobs, Estée Lauder White Linen, Dior J’Adore, Stella by Stella McCartney, Kenzo Flower by Kenzo, and L‘Air du Temps by Nina Ricci.

Fruity Perfumes

DKNY fruity perfume

Fruity perfumes contain citrus scents, such as lemon, grapefruit, strawberry, peach, kiwi, etc.

Fruity perfumes are fresh and youthful, making them a great choice for when you want to feel confident and energetic.

Examples of fruity perfumes include: L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Cartier Eau de Cartier, Sun Flowers by Elizabeth Arden, Beautiful Sheer by Estée Lauder, DKNY by Donna Karan, and Emporio White by Giorgio Armani.

Fresh Perfumes

Jennifer Lopez perfume

Fresh perfumes (also called green scents) are light and airy. They are based on scents of grass, green leaves and the ocean.

Fresh perfumes are energetic and rejuvenating. They are great to wear when you are out “en femme” since they boost your mood and put other people at ease.

Examples of fresh perfumes include: J.Lo Glow by Jennifer Lopez, Fifth Avenue by Elizabeth Arden, Diorissimo, Dune by Christian Dior, Bond No. 9, and Safari by Ralph Lauren.

Oriental Perfumes

Dior Addict fragrance

Oriental perfumes are rich and dramatic and smell of spices, musk, vanilla and heavy flowers.

Oriental perfumes have a sexy and sophisticated air. Just be sure to choose a light scent since oriental perfumes can lean toward the masculine side.

Examples of oriental perfumes include: Dior Addict, Lancome Attraction, Opium by Yves Saint Laurent, Samsara by Guerlain, Lalique Perfume by Lalique, and Sun Moon & Stars by Karl Lagerfeld.

Woody Perfumes

Tom Ford Sahara Noir

Woody perfumes are heavy and dramatic and are incorporate scents like sandalwood, patchouli, and cedar.

Woody perfumes are sensual and exotic, but they are the most masculine of all fragrances. Therefore, you may want to avoid this particular fragrance type.

Examples of woody perfumes include: Passion by Elizabeth Taylor, Escada by Escada, Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker, Cashmere Mist by Donna Karan, Habanita by Molinard, and Givenchy Organza.

What’s YOUR favorite perfume?

Keep these guidelines in mind – but remember, the most important criteria for choosing a perfume is how pretty and feminine it makes YOU feel!

What is YOUR favorite perfume? I’d love to know, so please share with me in the comments below!

Love,

Jessica

Ways to Save Money on Your Femme Wardrobe

In case you haven’t noticed, being a girl gets expensive – especially if you love to shop as much as I do!

It’s even worse if you have to maintain two separate wardrobes (one for your femme self and one for your guy self).

So how can you be feminine and fashionable – WITHOUT going broke?

Here are my top 5 ways to build a femme wardrobe on a budget:

1. Shop at Consignment Stores

cartoon girl shopping

While you can find cheap clothes galore at thrift stores like the Salvation Army or Goodwill, it means sifting through racks of ugly, decades-old clothes.

Instead, I suggest shopping at consignment stores. Consignment stores also offer second-hand clothing, but they are much more choosy about what they offer.

It’s a great way to find fashionable (often designer) clothes for a fraction of the original price.

2. Save Big During Sales

sale banner

I LOVE a good sale – and I’m sure you do too. The trick is to know when to shop to get the best deals.

Retailers usually offer their best sales at specific times of year, including:

  • Major holidays like Labor Day, Mother’s Day, or the 4th of July
  • After Christmas
  • The end of summer

Many stores also have their own schedule for semi-annual sales. For example, Victoria’s Secret holds their Semi-Annual Sale in the winter and summer. Get on your favorite stores’ email lists to be notified of sales.

3. Shop the Outlets

shopping bags

Outlet stores like TJ Maxx, Ross, Marshalls, and Kohls are great places to find bargains year round.

Here are my favorite online outlets:

6PM.com and Overstock.com carry plus size clothing and large-size women’s shoes, so they’re a great option for bigger girls.

4. Stop Wasting Money on Things You Don’t Wear

cartoon girl shopping

Spending money on things you’ll later regret is the ultimate waste.

My rule is not to buy anything (no matter how cheap) unless it:

  • Fits perfectly
  • Is the right color
  • Works with at least 2 outfits you already own
  • Is returnable

I like to wait a week to cut the tags off any clothes I purchase so I can make up my mind slowly and still be able to return things later.

5. Know When to Save and When to Splurge

piggy bank with kiss marks

While it’s important to save money, some things worth investing in include:

  • Silicon breast forms
  • A high quality wig
  • Good foundation and concealer

These items can make or break your feminine image, so purchase the best quality you can afford.

Then look for bargains when it comes to things like: trendy fashion pieces, eye shadow, nail polish, panties, etc.

How do YOU manage your femme wardrobe budget? Do you have any money-saving tips to add to this list?

As always, I’d love to hear from you, so please share in the comments section below!

Love,

Jessica
